Dans le pass\u00e9, le village a d\u00e9j\u00e0 attir\u00e9 beaucoup d'attention parce qu'il \u00e9tait la ville natale de l'ancien pr\u00e9sident sud-africain et prix Nobel de la paix Nelson Mandela.<\/p><p>Malgr\u00e9 la c\u00e9l\u00e9brit\u00e9 du village, beaucoup de ses habitants vivent dans la pauvret\u00e9. Pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es, les enfants du village ont \u00e9t\u00e9 scolaris\u00e9s dans des conditions extr\u00eamement difficiles \u00e0 l'\u00e9cole primaire No-Moscow.<\/p><p>La plupart des b\u00e2timents scolaires \u00e9taient en tr\u00e8s mauvais \u00e9tat.
